How to Choose the Right Submersible Pump for Your Borewell
Choosing a submersible pump starts with three numbers: your borewell's total depth, the water yield (how much the source can actually deliver), and the vertical distance the water needs to travel to reach your tank or field — the total head.
Once you know those, match them against the pump's rated head and discharge on its performance curve rather than just its horsepower label. An undersized pump will run constantly and wear out early; an oversized one wastes energy and can draw the borewell dry faster than it recharges.
Also check the power supply available at your site — single-phase or three-phase — and whether voltage fluctuates, since that affects motor choice and whether you need a stabiliser or soft starter.
Finally, think about maintenance access. A pump that is easy to service and backed by a local dealer network will cost you far less over its lifetime than one that is marginally cheaper upfront.
